Stabilization, security, and support for Shimano e-commerce
Discover how Grid Dynamics, in collaboration with Shimano, achieved remarkable improvements to the overall performance and security of their EU B2B platform. As a renowned $5 billion company specializing in bicycle components, fishing tackle, and rowing equipment, Shimano sought to elevate its digital infrastructure.
To meet Shimano's goals, we initiated a comprehensive audit of the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and SAP Commerce code and infrastructure. Based on the findings, we devised a set of strategic recommendations to enhance stability and security.
Our team implemented cutting-edge technologies to revolutionize Shimano's platform. Firstly, we achieved fully automated provisioning of AWS infrastructure and streamlined the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. The integration of Jenkins, Terraform, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) resulted in a robust and efficient setup.
Data protection and disaster recovery capabilities were bolstered through the strategic use of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon S3, and custom scripting for AEM. This integration successfully mitigated downtime and simplified complex recovery processes, ensuring seamless operations even during critical situations.
Performance tuning and optimization were given significant attention for SAP Commerce and AEM, leading to smoother operations. Leveraging AWS cloud services, such as Amazon CloudFront and AWS Lambda, with built-in autoscaling features, we enabled seamless scalability across larger markets, effectively addressing bottleneck issues related to AEM installations.
Security and access controls were significantly strengthened using AWS VPN and AWS IAM. By implementing these robust security measures, we provided fortified protection for Shimano's critical assets and sensitive data, ensuring peace of mind for their stakeholders.
